Advice requested! – Danube Canal: beaten man with an iron bar


A 44-year-old man was attacked by strangers with an iron bar on Tuesday night on the Vienna Danube Canal and was seriously injured. The brutal scenes were apparently observed by a witness who saw two men flee towards the Schwedenbrücke. The police are asking for clues.

The attack took place between 3.15 a.m. and 3.30 a.m. The 44-year-old man was at the Marienbrücke on the Danube Canal when he was suddenly attacked. The defenseless victim was subsequently beaten with an iron bar. It sustained serious injuries. After they had robbed the man as well, the unknown men fled.

The seriously injured person received first aid from the Viennese professional rescue service and was taken to hospital.

According to a witness, the two men he saw running away were dark-skinned people who were dressed in dark clothes at the time of the crime. Both men wore shorts and light-colored sneakers.

The police are now asking the population for help. Witnesses who saw the suspects before, during or after their escape are asked to contact the police.
