Fake apps that disguise themselves as useful everyday programs keep appearing in the Google Play Store. In truth, however, malware hides in the application that infects your Android smartphone. This also applies to “PDF Reader: View Documents”. The app contains adware that annoys you with huge advertisements.

According to Malwarebytes, the app waits a few hours before executing the malware so as not to be detected immediately. Once it starts, your entire display will be cluttered with pop-ups and videos. It can also happen that you can click away the advertisement only after a few seconds. Using the cell phone becomes a nightmare.

“PDF Reader: View Documents” has been downloaded more than a million times from Google’s App Store. There are clear signs that expose the application as a fake: the reader can only be used from the age of 17, the manufacturer “Fairy games” sounds like a game publisher and the five-star comments consist of empty phrases like “I think so too very good”.

It is precisely these indicators that you should check before each download, even from official sources. An antivirus for Android can also protect you from such threats. If you have said app, you should delete it immediately.
