Great success for the Swiss aerial jumpers at the start of the season: In Kuusamo, there are two of them on the podium.

The Swiss Aerials jumpers put their stamp on the 1st competition of the season in Kuusamo, Finland. In the absence of the suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes, a trio from Switzerland with Noé Roth, Nicolas Gygax and Pirmin Werner started in the superfinal of the top six.

Ultimately, Werner secured the victory, who had only just managed to make it into the superfinal in sixth place. The 22-year-old managed his last jump perfectly. For his double-full-full-full (triple somersault with 4 twists) Werner received 126.24 points. This value was no longer surpassed by its competitors.

Werner’s teammate Roth came closest. The son of national coach Michel Roth showed the same jump as Werner. With 123.98 points, he was graded slightly lower. For Switzerland it is the 3rd double victory in their Aerials history. Third place went to Canadian Lewis Irving (109.29 points).

Schädler misses the Superfinal

Nicolas Gygax, who was second in the Superfinal, did not succeed in the last attempt as desired. He had to settle for 6th place. Andrin Schädler, sixth in qualifying, missed the superfinal and was classified ninth.

Alexandra Bär, the only Swiss starter, failed in the qualification for the women. She was 13th. The Australian Danielle Scott secured the victory thanks to 99.05 points in the superfinal.
