On her way to Europe to be evacuated, a pregnant Afghan woman delivered her baby on the plane, as the US military announced.

A little sweetness among this chaos. On Sunday August 22, the US Air Force mobile air command announced on its Twitter account the birth of an Afghan baby girl, whose mother gave birth in a military plane. As she was being evacuated to the base in Ramstein, Germany, the latter began to feel “contractions and complications”.

The aircraft commander then “decided to descend to altitude to increase the pressure on the plane, which saved the mother’s life”, explains the Air Mobility Command on the social network.
Shortly after landing, the US military helped the new mother deliver her baby on the plane before she was transported with him to a nearby hospital facility.

Evacuations continue

Since August 14, the United States has evacuated nearly 17,000 people, including 2,500 Americans. They got the green light from Berlin for some to be directed to Germany, where they have many bases. Like this Afghan mother, about 1,150 people landed on Saturday at the Ramstein base, from where they are expected to leave for the United States within a few days.
