After 11 years of development, Squadron 42 would have completed its foundations

This weekend was CitizenCon 2023. The opportunity for the Cloud Imperium Games group to talk at length about the studio’s technical progress but above all to give news of
Squadron 42.

The title, presented as an autonomous solo adventure linked to the universe of Star Citizen, was first announced to be released in 2014, only to be pushed back several times over the years. But after nearly 11 years of waiting and postponements, it seems that Squadron 42 has finished its development phase and is now in the finishing phase.

An announcement confirmed by Chris Roberts, the founder of Cloud Imperium. According to him, all the features promised for the game are now finalized, allowing the teams to focus on technical optimization and the different aspects of the gaming experience. The goal being to offer an unprecedented cinematic adventure, always according to Chris Roberts.

Good news for all players who are waiting patiently Squadron 42 for many years but which must nevertheless be taken with a grain of salt. First of all because we know Chris Roberts’ propensity to change his mind and want to always add more new features. Then, because if the game officially enters the polishing phase, it is still far from being ready for release. Before considering placing it on the market, Squadron 42 will have to go through the hands of QA testing and at least, months of optimization. You will therefore have to be patient once again before hoping to be able to play the game.
