After 25 action films, will this actor with an imposing physique face Batman?

After saying that he would dream of playing him, has Dave Bautista just teased his presence in a future DC film in the guise of Bane, an imposing enemy of Batman who has already appeared in two feature films? Not so fast.

Is Dave Bautista’s dream about to come true? Expected to appear in Dune 2 on February 28, the ex-Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy had expressed his desire to play Bane, a massive enemy of Batman already seen in two films, and for which the actor did not want would not need to transform too much in order to have the necessary build.

Born in 1993 in the comic books, this mercenary sees his strength increased tenfold thanks to a super-steroid injected into his cerebral cortex. Endowed with superior intelligence (which is more evident in The Dark Knight Rises than Batman & Robin), he notably manages to discover who is hiding behind the mask of the Bat Man, and remains famous for having broken his back.

The Batman II or The Brave and the Bold?

This February 18, Dave Bautista shared, in an Instagram story, a concept art by graphic designer Boss Logic representing Bane. And it didn’t take much for some to get excited, seeing this as proof that the actor was going to lend him his features. In the sequel to The Batman, expected October 1, 2025. Or The Brave and the Bold, the hero’s adventure linked to the future DC Universe.

While filming on The Batman II is due to begin this year, this option would be the more logical of the two, as Bruce Wayne from The Brave and the Bold has not yet been chosen. But didn’t Dave Bautista simply share a visual that he found successful of a character he likes? Or even that Boss Logic tagged him in the story in question, knowing his love for Bane?

“I don’t think I can do Bane justice anymore.”

This is perhaps even the most probable. Because, in January 2023, Dave Bautista claimed to have drawn a line under his dream: “At this point in my career, I don’t think I can do Bane justice anymore.”he told Insider at the time of the release of Knock at the Cabin. “I don’t know if I could handle the physical part, and I don’t think I have the longevity to plan these films. I don’t know if I’ll be that man.”

Certainly, participating in The Batman II would require a shorter investment, in just one film. But it is not sure that Matt Reeves planned to have it in his story. In the meantime, if he has given up on his dream of playing him in the cinema, Dave Bautista’s love for Bane remains intact in view of this sharing.
