She has terrorized generations of spectators! 35 years after the first film, the Chucky doll should make its comeback to the cinema with a 9th feature film, all under the leadership of its original creator, Don Mancini!
Chucky, the evil killer doll, will soon make his return to the cinema! After the TV series and the 2019 remake, the saga will continue to haunt viewers. Guest of Scream Dreams podcasthosted by Barbara Crampton, creator Don Mancini confirmed the good news.
The return of the evil doll!
The latter declared that the project was in “early stages of development.” Apparently, still according to Don Mancini, this new film would be linked to the TV series, renewed last January for a season 3.
As a reminder, the Chucky franchise (Child’s Play in original version) was created in 1988 by Don Mancini. The feature film Child’s Play, released in theaters in France in 1989, featured a doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer. The latter, given to a six-year-old boy, would attack the family with violence and cruelty.
A cult horror saga would then see the light of day, made up of six other parts, the latest of which, The Return of Chucky, was released on VOD last September. In 2019, Child’s Play: The Evil Doll, a remake of the original episode, was released in theaters.

A disappointing remake?
Directed by Lars Klevberg, the film had mixed success, collecting $44 million in revenue for a budget of $10 million. Don Mancini was not involved in this project. This time, the creator seems to have regained control over his baby… or rather his evil doll! And she is in good hands for her return to the cinema!
For the moment, no release date has been announced. We will have to be patient before seeing the terrible puppet again on the big screen. Will Brad Dourif, original voice of Chucky, voice the doll again? Answer soon!
Note that in the 2019 remake, it was Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) who lent him his voice. The latter is a regular at crazy character voices: in fact, it was he who could be heard on the Joker from the Batman animated series from the 90s.
