Richard Branson had a serious bicycle fall. On Instagram, the entrepreneur explains how this happened and bravely shows his wounds.
Billionaire Richard Branson (73) reports on Instagram about a serious bicycle fall he recently had on the island of Virgin Gorda. The British entrepreneur also published a photo of his injuries and explained that another person was involved in the accident.
Richard Branson: “The cautious don’t live at all”
“I hit a pothole and had a bad fall, which resulted in another hematoma on my hip and a nasty cut on my elbow,” says Branson, who is pictured with obvious abrasions on his arm and his white T-shirt stained from the fall has around 4.9 million Instagram followers. Surprisingly, nothing was broken, the 73-year-old reports. “We were traveling with Alex Wilson, who fell after me, but luckily he was okay too.” In addition to the bravely smiling Branson, the photo also shows his passenger with abrasions and blood on his T-shirt.
The billionaire apparently isn’t deterred by the accident: “I consider myself very lucky and am grateful that I keep myself active and healthy. After all, the brave may not live forever, but the cautious don’t live at all!” This is not the first bicycle accident for Richard Branson.
As the British “Daily Mail” reports, he crashed in a charity race in 2021 after his brakes failed. He had to be treated for cuts and bruises on his elbow as well as hematoma and swelling on his hip. In 2016, he broke his cheek at another charity event and tore several ligaments. After falling over the handlebars, Branson is said to have stated that his helmet saved his life.
