After a billing error: Disney + gets the remaining money from you!

DISNEY+

Disney accidentally charged the wrong price for its annual streaming subscription. Now the hopes for a goodwill gift are gone: you have to pay that much for Disney +.

Disney + has a chic streaming selection – and is screwing up its price: 89.90 instead of 69.99 euros are now charged for the annual subscription. (Source: The Walt Disney Company)

  • The annual subscription for Disney+ now costs EUR 89.90 instead of EUR 69.99.
  • Disney initially debited the lower old amount from its customers.
  • No goodwill: the provider will collect the remaining 19.91 euros soon

Those who had not canceled their annual subscription to Disney+ despite the announced price increase expected a debit of almost 90 euros around the second birthday of the streaming service in Germany. The surprise was all the greater when Disney then only collected 69.99 from its customers’ accounts.

Speculations began that the Mickey Mouse group might be backing down on its pricing policy – in the end, the unexpected “discount” was just a banal billing error. But customers kept hoping: Would Disney grudgingly grant its customers another good year out of goodwill?

Disney+: No discount as a gesture of goodwill

The answer is: Abandon all hope – because Disney comes and gets its money. Although the step is not surprising, on the other hand, some will soon be surprised at the crooked amount of 19.91 euros being debited from their account. Especially if they didn’t notice the previous fuss about the wrong billing.

Disney is currently informing the affected customers via email about the upcoming additional payment:

“Thank you for your Disney+ subscription! As we informed you in a previous email, your subscription should be renewed at the annual price of €89.90. Due to a billing error, the renewal of your subscription will be billed as two separate charges: one for 69 €.99 that’s already happened and one for €19.91 that’s coming soon. The total price stays the same. You don’t have to do anything – we’ll take care of everything else!”

A small apology from Disney for the mess: “We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to sharing another year of incredible stories with you.”. Of course, most would have preferred a discount.
