After a chaotic launch, Overwatch 2 has already gathered more than 25 million people


Released on October 4, 2022, it goes without saying thatOverwatch 2 struggled upon launch. Indeed, Blizzard has seen its servers in great difficulty, bringing a lot of bugs or queues to players.

Nevertheless, 10 days after its release, the sequel to the team-based FPS has set a new record: Overwatch 2 has already gathered more than 25 million people. Available for free on all platforms (PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch)the game has won over players all over the world.

Overwatch 2 will receive updates soon, which will include new maps, new game modes but also new characters. When the game was released, players were able to discover Kiriko, the new support character who seems to have won over many players. Indeed, the Kitsune Rush was unleashed more than 2 million times in the first week of play alone.

To thank the players for their support, Blizzard will give away a Legendary Reaper Captain Cursed skin and a Medkit weapon lucky charm to all players who log in between October 25 and the end of Season 1. Also, the matches will bring double EXP on the following weekends:

  • From October 21 at 8:00 p.m. to October 24 at 8:00 p.m. (Paris time)
  • From October 28 at 8:00 p.m. to October 31 at 7:00 p.m. (Paris time)
  • From November 24 at 7:00 p.m. to November 28 at 7:00 p.m. (Paris time)

As a reminder, Overwatch 2 offers a 5v5 format, 6 new maps, a new marking system on the map, as well as new appearances for all characters. The now free-to-play game offers a free battle pass as well as a premium battle pass available for purchase each season. A PvE mode is expected to arrive sometime next year.
