According to the media office, the technical malfunction of the payment system at Coop has been resolved throughout Switzerland.
At Coop, card payments have not been possible anywhere in Switzerland since Monday morning, except with the Postcard.
The reason for the disruption is still unclear.
Anyone who wanted to shop at Coop yesterday could only do so with cash or a Postcard. Other card payments or payment with Twint were not possible throughout Switzerland.
According to Coop media spokeswoman Rebecca Veiga, it was a technical fault. Until yesterday, the only thing that could be ruled out was that the source of the problem lay with a payment service provider.
Customers left their purchases
The employees in the stores were confronted with the anger of the customers. As can be read in online comments on various portals, many customers left their purchases at the checkout. The reasons given are that they were only informed at the checkout or that they had not seen the signs.
As a “thank you for your patience yesterday”, Coop customers could pay for all their purchases with Superpoints today, Tuesday, writes Veiga.
