Because it bears a similar name to a Carinthian restaurant whose landlord caused a scandal, a Graz restaurant has to deal with internet trolls.
It is an unpleasant mix-up that is currently causing despair for the team at the “Peppino im Hofkeller” restaurant. The restaurant is currently receiving a series of bad ratings on the Internet, which are actually aimed at another restaurant called “Peppino” in Millstatt. The host there caused a real scandal when he published the following statement on Instagram: “We would like to inform you all that that our restaurant will be closed on January 16, 2023 and will reopen on January 19, 2023 with six tables for our regular guests and local guests. Vegans, hippies, ecos and Arabs are excluded.” Shitstorm hits the wrong place This scandal was reported throughout the German-speaking world, and SOS Mitmensch even filed a complaint against the host. Since then, one negative review after another has been given for the restaurant on the Internet – not for the Millstätter “Peppino”, but for the restaurant of the same name in Graz. The operators of the “Peppino im Hofkeller” have nothing to do with the scandalous landlord and now spoke up via Facebook: “It happens almost every hour today that negative reviews reach us. We found out through dear guests and friends that a restaurant with a similar name but located in a different federal state did not make any nice statements about other cultures and we are apparently confused!” The team distanced itself from the statements of the landlord Carinthia: “We refrain from discriminatory statements! Anyone who knows us knows that all cultures are welcome here!”
