After a weak appearance in Moscow: Lukashenko should be in the hospital

After a weak appearance in Moscow
Lukashenko is said to be in the hospital

During his visit to Moscow on Tuesday, Belarusian President Lukashenko appeared unusually weak. He had to cancel a planned meal with Putin “for health reasons”. According to Belarusian sources, he is now in a clinic.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is said to have gone to a hospital near Minsk. This is reported by the independent Belarusian Euroradio and the Belarusian Hajun Observatory. “According to our information, Lukashenko came to the Republican Clinical Medical Center (‘President’s Clinic’) near the Drazdy reservoir around 7 p.m. today,” writes Belarusian Hajun on Twitter.

During the arrival of the Belarusian ruler, access to the clinic was blocked. Armed security forces guarded the roads there. After Lukashenko’s motorcade drove past, they reopened the roads.

There had been speculation about Lukashenko’s state of health after the Victory Day celebrations on May 9 in Moscow. Videos showed Lukashenko watching the parade on Red Square with a pained expression on his face. The Belarusian president looked “tired and a little unsteady on his feet,” according to the Reuters news agency.

Lukashenko had to drive the 300-meter-long route from Red Square to the laying of the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in an electric car. He was also absent from a subsequent state banquet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Lukashenko left early “for health reasons”, it said.
