After a wild fall – Nadine Fest: “I even wanted to drive to the finish line myself”

Carinthian Nadine Fest was able to leave the hospital after just one night after her fall in Zauchensee. The left side of her body is damaged, but she still wants to compete in the World Cup again this year.

That could have turned out much worse!” breathes out Nadine Fest. The Arriacher was transported away by helicopter after a serious fall at the World Cup Super-G in Zauchensee on Saturday. After a night in the Schwarzach hospital, she was allowed out again and watched yesterday’s descent in the finish area. “I have a fracture in the shoulder area and a severe bruised hip – the left side is pretty badly damaged,” says Fest. Immediately after the crash, she assumed the worst on the slopes. “I didn’t want to look down at my feet!” “I couldn’t breathe and didn’t want to look down at my feet because my shin hurt. After the initial shock, I even wanted to drive to the finish line myself,” says the 25-year-old, who immediately began the analysis in the hospital. “I immediately asked for a cell phone and really wanted to see the video – it was a driving error and it pushed me backwards.” An MRI of the shoulder and an ultrasound are planned for next week. “I have fluid in my abdomen – but luckily there are no internal injuries,” says Fest, who is aiming for the World Cup in Cortina in two weeks and wants to start training soon. “Now we need to do some therapies to get fit quickly.”
