After a year of development, the company Bleu will see the light of day at the end of 2022

The Blue project takes off. This Wednesday, Capgemini and Orange say a little more about the future contours of the Bleu company. This should accompany its first customers towards a migration “by the end of 2022, subject to obtaining regulatory authorizations”, specify the partners in a joint press release. Bleu’s first services, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, will be operational in 2024.

A year has passed since the announcement of the creation of Bleu in May 2021, in line with government announcements around the trusted cloud. This is the time it took to validate the technical solution with Microsoft and launch the development phase.

For the rest, Orange and Capgemini indicate that they are also working with Anssi to ensure that the Blue project complies with SecNumCloud requirements. At the origins of the project, it is a question of proposing cloud services based on Microsoft technology, but outside the expectation of American extraterritorial laws, this by ensuring that a certain number of technical and legal requirements are respected.

Jean Coumaros will head the future company

The migration phase to the trusted cloud will be based on the “Blue Readiness Program”. Its goal will be to “ensure that customers are ready to migrate when the platform goes live” in 2024. Organizations will be able to train and carry out tests and pilots during this preparatory phase.

According to Christel Heydemann, CEO of Orange, this migration program has a dual objective, “to ensure that customers are ready to take advantage of Bleu’s services as soon as the platform is put into service, and that they can start their transition with the best support possible”.

Jean Coumaros, current director of transformation and member of the executive committee of Capgemini, has been appointed by the two shareholders as prospective general manager of the future Blue joint venture.

A set of data centers at launch

As a reminder, Bleu meets the specific needs of the State, local authorities, hospitals or operators of vital importance and operators of essential services. These players require the implementation of a cloud adapted to the degree of sensitivity of their data and their workload.

Once operational, the Microsoft Azure services and the main Microsoft 365 services that will be made available to them will be hosted in a set of data centers located in France, specify the partners.

“Blue brings a unique combination of advantages in terms of security and service offering, in particular by providing the widest range of technological innovations. We now look forward to the implementation of the next steps of the project so that interested organizations can effectively prepare for their migration” commented Aiman Ezzat, Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini Group.
