The long wait will soon be over: the British TV broadcaster BBC has finally announced the start date of season 6 of “Peaky Blinders” – and the final season is coming sooner than expected.
It’s been almost three years since Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his gang shook up the Birmingham underworld. There were many reasons for the delay in the sixth and final season of “Peaky Blinders”: First, the corona pandemic paralyzed production of the series, then Helen McCrory, the actress of Aunt Polly, tragically died of cancer in April 2021. A first teaser that was released recently raised hopes that “Peaky Blinder” will return soon. And that has now been fulfilled.
The BBC recently posted a short video on its social media channels announcing the start date of Season 6 of Peaky Blinders. And it looks like the Shelby gang will be back sooner than many thought.

Peaky Blinders Season 6 is coming in late February 2022
In the clip, which lasts about one minute, we see British artist Akse, armed with spray cans and a lifting platform, conjure up a huge portrait of Tommy Shelby on a house wall in Birmingham. In the end, under the series title “Peaky Blinders”, the start date of the sixth and final season is also given: February 27, 2022.
So for fans in the UK, the long wait for the Shelby gang to reunite will soon be over as the launch date will only apply to the UK TV channel. In Germany you probably have to wait a little longer. The 5th season 2019 started about a month after the BBC broadcast on Netflix. Accordingly, “Peaky Blinders” season 6 should then be available from the streaming provider at the end of March 2022. The broadcast on free TV would then have to take place on Arte.
What is Peaky Blinders season 6 about?
Since the sixth season of “Peaky Blinders” is also the last, the final episodes of the popular series should have a lot to offer – especially since many loose ends of the story are waiting for a resolution. And if you believe the first teaser, then this will probably happen.
The plot probably starts right after the stirring season 5 finale, but also takes place in the 1930s and during and after the Second World War. The rise of fascism in Europe and the figure of right-wing politician Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) should play an important role in Season 6 of “Peaky Blinders”. Tom Hardy also returns as Jewish gangster Alfie Solomons and Any Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray. So the finale can only be furious.
