Notice to owners of smartphones and of tablets Samsung the most hackers. The South Korean manufacturer now lets you repair your devices yourself.
The firm has officially launched its self-service repair kit which will allow buyers to buy spare parts from certain Samsung Galaxy devices to repair them.
Samsung launches its repair kits
After Apple Self Service Repair, it’s Samsung’s turn to launch its own official repair kit. Like its competitor, this initiative only affects a handful of models for now, namely the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21, as well as their various iterations, and the Galaxy Tab S7+ on the tablet side. Other devices should be added to the list in the near future.
In total, these are three components that can be replaced: the screen and the battery (indissociable) for 167.99 dollars, the charging port and the glass of the rear face both for 66.99 dollars. These genuine parts and repair tools can be purchased directly from the go-to platform iFixit and Samsung outlets. It is then necessary to follow the instruction guides made available free of charge to repair your devices.
This program is therefore primarily aimed at the most resourceful users with a minimum of knowledge and experience necessary to repair a smartphone or tablet. This initiative is currently restricted to the United States only. Samsung does not mention any arrival in Europe or other territories for now.
