Former President Trump (74) launched his new communication platform on Tuesday. After months of banning social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, it gives him the opportunity to communicate with his followers.
“From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” is over www.donaldjtrump.com / desk retrievable. The platform enables Trump to post comments, pictures and videos, as reported by Fox News.
After being banned from online services, Trump has been reliant on sending statements by email in recent months. Before that, the Twitter account was by far his most important communication channel with more than 80 million subscribers.
Trump runs a blog – it is impossible to comment
Now Trump inaugurated the new communication channel on his website. Outwardly, the blog area is reminiscent of Twitter – but where there are only contributions from Trump.
At the same time, Trump’s supporters could carry statements by the former US president through a back door to Twitter and Facebook, so to speak. Because you can share every short article with a few clicks as a quote and link on the online platforms. It was initially unclear whether the services would allow this.
Blog just part of the platform?
The platform appears to be based on the Campaign Nucleus technology of former campaign manager Brad Parscale. It is unclear whether this is Trump’s announced social media platform – or at least part of it.
After storming the Capitol on January 6, Trump was banned from Twitter forever. Facebook also banned the former US president, including on Instagram. On Wednesday, the Group’s oversight board will announce whether and when the ban on Trump will be lifted. (noo / euc / SDA)
