After bedbugs, come spiders! In Vermines, Théo Christine (Suprêmes), Finnegan Oldfield (Cut!, La Terre des hommes), Jérôme Niel (Smoking makes you cough), Sofia Lesaffre (Alone, Braqueurs) and Lisa Nyarko will have to face an invasion of spiders. Arachnophobes therefore refrain…

First feature film by Sébastien Vaniček, the film takes place in a city building. The story revolves around 30-year-old Kaleb. Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with a poisonous spider and accidentally lets it escape. The inhabitants will then have to fight for their survival.

The first French spider horror film

The first images revealed above promise us a scary horror film as possible. When the project was announced, Pierre Mazars, co-founder of the Charades production company which co-produced the film alongside WTFilms, declared to Variety : “It’s a project we’ve all been waiting for: a French spider film fueled by the energy of an immensely talented young director. This is a film that can revolutionize the genre and which has the capacity to address the general public as well as movie buffs.”.

If there are many horror films featuring spiders (Tarantula, Arachnophobia, Arac Attack…), Vermines is in fact the first French feature film with killer spiders.

The building that we see in the teaser is also located in Noisy-le-Grand, it is the Picasso Arena, designed by the Spanish architect Manuel Núñez Yanowsky in the 1980s. A facade in the shape of a canvas ideal spider to serve as a backdrop for this film.

Vermin is scheduled in our theaters on December 27, 2023, enough to help you digest the log…
