After Bridgerton: 3 Enemies to Lovers books you should read now

Since “Bridgerton” the small genre “Enemies to Lovers” has enjoyed growing popularity. Here we present three books whose protagonists initially hate each other and end up falling in love.
The “Enemies to Lovers” genre is celebrating a revival thanks to the second season of Bridgerton. From enemies to lovers – that’s what the current Netflix film adaptation of the novel series by Julia Quinn is about. As the season begins with the characters Anthony and Kate despising each other, that simmering hatred turns to affection and eventually love. That sounds cheesy, yes. But like the first season, the sequel has been pretty well received by audiences. Sometimes it’s just nice to escape from everyday life for a short time, to switch off and relax romantically playful worlds add. We want more.

These 3 “Enemies to Lovers” books are highly recommended
1. Normal people
“Normal people” is the second novel by bestselling Irish author Sally Rooney. The protagonists Marianne and Connell could not be more different. She is the daughter of a lawyer. He’s the son of a cleaner – who works for Marianne’s mother. He’s popular at school. not you. Despite the initial dislike, Marianne and Connell find out that maybe they aren’t so different after all.
“Normal People” isn’t your typical cheesy “Enemies to Lovers” story. Connell and Marianne first hate each other and then begin to feel for each other. But the game of hide-and-seek, the rejection, the non-binding nature – the lack of courage to stand up for one’s own feelings for fear of losing love again at some point is not kitsch, it is a reflection of modern love relationships.
2. The theoretical improbability of love
“The Theoretical Improbability of Love” is a bit shallower and fits very well into the “Enemies to Lovers” genre. Biology PhD student Olive is a rationalist. She believes in science and not in the uncontrollable like love – until, in desperation, she kisses Adam Carlsen. How is it that the biggest lab bully in all of Stanford can turn your whole world upside down with just one kiss? The book offers excellent entertainment and allows us to immerse ourselves wonderfully in far-off, fictional worlds.
3. In love with your most beautiful sides
At least as cheesy and recommendable “In love with your most beautiful sides”. The focus is on New York author January, who tries to overcome her writer’s block in an idyllic beach house in order to meet the deadline for her latest novel. But the idyll is over on the very first evening. There’s a party going on next door – it turns out the arrogant Gus, with whom she took a writing class a few years ago, is the host. But he too is in a writing crisis. Will the two get along and support each other?
