The producer of CODA, the American remake of La Famille Bélier, has unveiled three other French successes that he would also like to adapt to the United States.
After CODA, outsider of the Oscars which won the most prestigious award of this 2022 ceremony, which French films could experience a similar destiny, also being remade in the United States?
CODA is, as a reminder, the American adaptation of La Famille Bélier, a French comedy directed by Eric Lartigau, released in December 2014, with great success: nearly 7.5 million admissions in France.

Philippe Rousselet, happy producer of La Famille Bélier and CODA, confided in his desires for the future. Asked about his projects by The Sunday newspaperhe pronounced the names of three comedies he could produce for the United States.
“I want to redo Women on the 6th floor. And why not also Tomorrow everything begins and even Radin with Dany Boon. I like universal stories with emotion and the human. Like CODA“, announces Philippe Rousselet in the JDD.
These three films, which combine humor and emotion, were successes in France. Women on the 6th Floor, directed by Philippe Le Guay and released in February 2011, recorded 2.2 million admissions. Cheap! by Fred Cavayé sold 2.9 million cinema tickets when it was released in September 2016. Finally, Demain tout commence by Hugo Gélin, released in December 2016, achieved 3.2 million admissions.
The latter had a very fine international career: as Hugo Gélin told us, the film was released in many countries abroad. “More than a simple comedy, it is considered a drama in some countries, or at least a melodrama. Where in France this term can be a little snubbed in the cinematographic genre, internationally, it is a real genre that works“, he had explained to our microphone, in 2019.
