After decision: It is again possible to travel to these countries

After a decision by the Federal Cabinet, travel restrictions from third countries are gradually lifted. These countries are there.

Due to a partially improved epidemiological situation, the Federal Cabinet decided on Wednesday, following the recommendation of the Council of the European Union, to partially lift travel restrictions in the Corona crisis. As of today, July 2nd, citizens from initially eight third countries can return to Germany – i.e. from eight countries that do not belong to the EU. According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, entry from these countries is "possible without restrictions". German vacationers can easily travel back from these countries.

The eight countries mentioned include Australia, Georgia, Canada, Montenegro, New Zealand, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay. According to the federal government, the restrictions for China, Japan and South Korea should also be lifted, provided that these countries expand their entry options for German citizens. The country list is to be updated every two weeks.

A quarantine obligation "on the basis of the Infection Protection Act in all federal states for incoming and return travelers" continues to apply to all risk areas. States are jointly classified by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Brazil, the Dominican Republic, India, Jamaica, Morocco, Mexico, the Philippines, Sweden, Turkey and numerous US states also count as risk areas. A current list can be viewed at the RKI.

The Federal Foreign Office continues to warn against "unnecessary tourist trips abroad" until August 31, 2020. Trips to the EU member states – except Sweden – or to Great Britain are excluded. Participation in cruises is also strongly discouraged, among other things. Citizens can also find more detailed information here on the official website.
