After delays – Leonie case: Fourth suspect extradited

The man who fled to Great Britain after the violent death of 13-year-old Leonie in June last year and was picked up a little later in London has now been extradited to Austria. The process had recently dragged on. The 23-year-old suspect had appealed against the extradition.

“He has been here since Wednesday and has already been questioned,” said a spokeswoman for the Vienna public prosecutor’s office on Friday of the APA. The applications for the imposition of custody are being prepared. The Afghan is strongly suspected of being responsible, together with three other compatriots, for the death of the young Lower Austrian. In this context, the Vienna public prosecutor is investigating the four Afghans for rape resulting in death. The girl was discovered in June leaning against a tree on a green strip in Donaustadt. The three other suspects aged between 16 and 23 – two are in custody in Vienna, another in criminal custody due to a conviction for other offenses – were arrested shortly after the body was found. The presumed fourth participant sat down and fled across Europe to England. At the end of July, his handcuffs clicked in a hotel.
