After Elden Ring, here are the Souls-like that we can’t wait to test!

Elden Ring has probably awakened in you an unlikely love for sub-likes, but you don’t necessarily want to do the old FromSoftware games for various reasons? Do you want a fresh title that comes out of the codes offered by the “Souls”? Know that in more or less long temporalities, other souls-like will make their appearances. Therefore, find our small list of these games that we are looking forward to as well as their release dates!

For the most impatient, we did not forget to mention a game that was recently released and which is well worth the detour in our opinion.

Rolling Mechanics: Steel Rising

  • Release date : September 8, 2022
  • Editor : Nacon, Bigben Interactive
  • Developer : Spiders
  • Platform : PS5, Xbox Series and PC
  • Price : 59.99€ on console and 49.99€ on PC

Steel Rising immerses us in the Paris of 1789 during the French Revolution. The latter sees itself being repressed in the blood by Louis XVI and his army of automatons as ruthless as they are bloodthirsty. Aegis, a being just as mechanical as the king’s henchmen, faces the king’s troops alone to try to save history.

Precision will be required, because mechanical automatons are endowed with great robustness and flawless agility. You will have to chain dodges, parries, jumps and deadly attacks to continue your ascent in Paris as best you can. As the fights progress, Aegis will be able to improve with a system of weapons and skills to choose according to your style of play. Depending on your tastes, you can play as a warrior, a bodyguard, a deadly dancer or even an elementalist. Each of the fights can be engaged in various ways.

In addition to your combat skills, you are going to have to use common sense and ingenuity to try to clear your way to your main mission. Thereby, the carriages, the grappling hook, the secret passages and many other places will have to be explored to try to save Paris which is plunged into darkness.

The developers promise a detailed map to explore, but it goes without saying that it won’t be able to be as vast and complete as that of Elden Ring. However, all the information just before is mouth-watering, because Steel Rising seems to be a demanding and complete game. See you in September!

It’s not nice to lie: Lies of P

  • Release date : 2023
  • Editor : Neowiz Games
  • Developer : Neowiz Games, Round 8 Studio
  • Platform : PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC
Elden Ring

This time, we dive into the famous Italian tale written in 1881 by Carlo Collodi: Pinocchio. It is a very well-known work, in particular thanks to its adaptation in cartoon by the Walt Disney studios. While the novel was already tinged with dark colors, Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studio dig even deeper into the darkness to deliver an even darker fairy tale title in 2023.

According to the information given by the developers, we will embody Pinocchio, a mechanical puppet who is in search of a mysterious person. Abandoned and left alone to ourselves, many opponents will come to put a spoke in our wheels and the only way out to hope to survive is through massacre. The developers also warn us: “You must always lie to others if you hope to become human”.

In an attempt to find the truth among the countless lies that we will face, we will have to venture into a fallen, previously beautiful city inspired by late 19th century and early 20th century Europe. Little surprise, like Elden Ring, Lies of P offers a multiple end mechanictherefore a potential replayability of the future title.

Being an automaton, Pinocchio will be able to modify certain parts of his body to acquire new skills in combat. But that’s not all, because the improvements also seem to be used for exploration, so the world around us will possibly be full of riches. Whether for combat or discovery, combinations will have to be put in place to find the assembly of parts that work perfectly.

No release date was given at Gamescom, but it should arrive in 2023. The wait will most certainly be worth it!

An Unexpected Revival: The Lords of Fallen

  • Release date : 2023
  • Editor : CI Games
  • Developer : HEXWORKS
  • Platform : PS5, Xbox Series and PC
Elden Ring

Lords of Fallen is a soul-like that was decried in 2014, as the flaws were present. However, during Gamescom, the CI Games studio is offering a new trailer for their title. The video broadcast during the event leaves players wondering: is it a reboot of the first title? Or is it a new episode that will wipe away the errors of the first title? So many questions, but too few answers at the time of writing these lines.

The developers nevertheless give some information! Indeed, the development teams offer an unprecedented epic adventure in an interconnected world measuring more than five times the size of the original; which seems to confirm our theory on the reboot.

The Lords of Fallen thrusts us into an era where the gods don’t remain fallen forever, despite the uprising of the demon god Adyr. We will be in the shoes of one of the mythical Black Crusaders to traverse the realms of the living and the dead in an attempt to bring down Adyr once again. The fall is not an end in itself, because you can always get up. If you die in the world of the living, you will fall into the world of the dead where your purpose in this place will be to return to life by facing many abominations.

To achieve our ends, we will have the choice between nine classes and our character will have to be developed by improving its statistics, its weapons, its armor as well as its spells. The developers promise a hundred unique weapons between melee and magic. If your quest proves to be too complicated, it turns out that multiplayer will be available! As a result, you can experience a solo campaign or with a friend, but beware, heroes from other kingdoms can also invade you.

But what do we do in the meantime?

Apart from Steel Rising, the other two games are not ready for release yet, as no date has been mentioned yet. So, in order to wait, there is a game that caught our attention: Thymesia.

Elden Ring

Released on August 18, Thymesia is a souls-like that happens to be very well received by players. You will play as Corvus, a plague doctor who has the weight of an entire kingdom on his shoulders. Indeed, alchemy has thrown the fate of Hermes, a previously prosperous kingdom, into chaos. Now, infected monsters roam the streets in search of fresh flesh to skin. There is no longer any hope for a potential cure, the problem has become far too powerful.

Corvus will then have the difficult task of remembering past events in an attempt to restore some balance, but as he finds elements, new secrets emerge, but also new adversaries. Corvus is a gifted being who can master diseases that have turned people into monsters ; sometimes you can wield a heavy axe, then by collecting another monster you can equip yourself with a halberd. A full talent tree will be at your disposal, allowing you to craft the style of play of your choice.

Elden Ring

Corvus is a mere human and he faces fearsome monsters that don’t flinch despite his attacks. Therefore, you will have to have a sense of timing; turn into a crow to throw your feathers like daggers to interrupt certain attacks from your enemies which will prove deadly if you miss.

To play it now, Thymesia is a thrilling game, with great replayability of areas thanks to side missions which do not prove to be redundant to my greatest astonishment. Let’s also talk about the bosses, they require great demands and have very interesting patterns to understand. Thymesia puts the watchword on the notion of timingbecause it will be necessary to strike, make a parry or dodge at the right time to avoid a devastating chain of our opponents. The talent tree will allow you to create the Corvus of your choice with skills that are equally interesting from each other, which helps to fuel the gameplay despite the lack of “loot”. Indeed, you will not be able to collect weapons on the ground, no, you will have to seize that of your opponents and thus advance according to the enemies which surround you.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring

Until Steel Rising, Thymesia is a very good game that will give you a good dose of frustration, challenge and intense joy at the defeat of a boss. Small bonus point: its low price! Effectivelyhymesia is available on PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC at an affordable price of €29.99. You will very often hold your breath and that’s what we expect from a souls-like!

steam

It was expected to take a bit of time, but Bandai Namco and FromSoftware took 214 days to restore DS3 multiplayer to Steam. And it’s far from over, since those of Dark Souls Remastered and Dark Souls 2 have not yet been restored.

epic games

Like every week, it treats the side of the Epic Games Store with one or even several free games. You have until August 25 to pick up a card game that combines rogue-like and dungeon exploration without paying a penny.
