After the major attack by the Islamist Hamas from the Gaza Strip, emergency services have so far found at least 260 bodies at a festival site in Israel alone. This was reported by the news website Ynet, citing the Zaka rescue service.
According to reports, it is the Nova Festival, where the German Shani Louk is said to have celebrated until the catastrophe. Hamas fighters attacked this on Saturday not far from a kibbutz near the border with the Gaza Strip and also abducted numerous people from there to the Gaza Strip. The media quoted eyewitnesses who spoke of a massacre.
Videos are circulating online that show how the revelers flee from the attackers’ shots. The Islamist Hamas launched surprise rocket attacks against Israel from Gaza on Saturday morning. At the same time, armed Palestinians advanced into Israel by land, sea and air and attacked people in several towns near the border.
According to the latest figures from Sunday evening, at least 700 people in Israel were killed in the major attack. It was initially unclear whether the 260 festival visitors killed were counted. The number continued to rise over the weekend, partly as Israeli forces moved into attacked locations and discovered more bodies.
