Now the city of Vienna is reacting. “Together with the police, we are now taking specific priority measures. On the markets themselves and other busy places like Mariahilfer Strasse,” explains a spokesman for the municipal administration. That also seems necessary. Beggars hold a cup under the nose of mothers who have bought their children something to collect change. Or much more disgusting: At the town hall square, thieves are aiming for the cups of partying visitors. They steal them at a careless moment and collect the four euros per cup.
