After its divorce from Electronic Arts, FIFA turns to games using the blockchain

FIFA 23 marks the end of an era, as we witness the last collaboration between Electronic Arts and the group of Fifa. The two entities separated following financial disagreements, and if one could think at first that it was FIFA that had refused to get into the NFT and blockchain market, it is obviously the editor who had curbed the desires of the organization. Now that the divorce is consummated, FIFA can do what it sees fit, and decides to jump with both feet into this market which is however struggling to take off.

Who would have thought that EA would be the most reasonable in history?

History of quickly falling back on its feet following its separation from EA, FIFA very quickly went to dredge up all kinds of projects that used the blockchain, feeling that there was obviously a good vein here (it’s true that no one is broke on the market recently, right Meta?)

Thereby, four partnerships between FIFA and games (or apps) will see the light of day just in time for the World Cup in Qatar, which isn’t nearly a pan anyway (and it’s probably the most “harmless” of the lot). We will therefore find the following games:

  • AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Editiona very casual 4 vs 4 game
  • FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in the Upland Metaversewhich will bet everything on the metaverse and on NFT exchanges
  • FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Phygtlwhich is therefore related to the game Phygtl
  • Matchday Challenge: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Editionwhich aims to make you predict outcomes with playing cards

We do not doubt the playful value of its projects (if sorry, we doubt it outright), but we hope that FIFA has greater ambitions for the future, so as not to leave a boulevard to EA Sports FC. A little competition is always good to take.
