The hearings follow and look alike for Yannox, this Ile-de-France prosecuted in cases of computer hacking. Over the dismissals requested by the Parisian justice system since the spring, the charges are increasing against this timid, frail young man of 21 years. To the first case of the CNED’s computer attacks, in April 2021, was first added the file of the swatting of the Ubisoft studio in Montreal in November 2020, then a third case of vandalism in the online game, revealed this October 10.

But while these three cases were to be tried on Monday, they were all referred to a future hearing in mid-June. The magistrates of the 12e correctional chamber of the Paris court have indeed requested a new psychiatric expertise. They want to know if the defendant is fit to stand trial. Which could, in the event of a negative result, further postpone the prospect of a future trial. The young man, handicapped by serious health problems, looked absent or reacted with delay to the questions of the magistrates.

The three judges also wanted to consider the three cases during the same hearing. However, communicated late at the end of the week to the court and to the defence, the third file of proceedings against Yannox was not in a state to be judged on Monday. In this case, the justice suspects him of having carried out denial of service attacks against a game server Minecraftone of the greatest successes of the video game mixing adventure and construction.

On Paladium, a server managed by the company Fuze III, there were around 5,000 daily players, but also Yannox, to the chagrin of the company. Launched by the youtuber Fuze III, one of the French figures of Minecraft with his 2.5 million subscribers on YouTube, the server brings together a community of 300,000 players more broadly. But this lucrative activity – companies set up game servers, making money from the sale of derivative objects, in or outside the game – has been the victim of a series of acts of digital vandalism.

According to one of the company’s representatives, who spoke to the press on the sidelines of the hearing, Yannox tried to block the operation of the server with denial of service attacks, forcing it to stop its activity. for about two weeks. Despite about fifteen banishments, the young man would also have taken advantage of a bug to mass distribute game items normally sold by the company. Finally, the company suspects him of having launched hateful messages on the Discord chat.

Contacted, Yannox’s lawyer did not wish to speak. If the company Fuze III assesses its damage at around 65,000 euros, it specifies however that the young man would not have acted alone. Several other Internet users, about ten, according to a ladle count, would also be prosecuted in separate legal proceedings.

Prosecutions, carried out following an investigation by the cybercrime brigade of the Prefecture of Paris, which recall a previous legal file. In January 2022, Yannox was fined 600 euros for denial of service attacks targeting his favorite game, Rainbow Six.
