Backstreet Boy member Nick Carter has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women. In one case, the star was able to celebrate a partial success.

After serious allegations against singer Nick Carter (43), the Backstreet Boy member was able to celebrate a first partial success in court. Carter has been accused by a singer named Melissa Schuman (39) of allegedly raping her in 2002. In return, Carter sought a defamation lawsuit – and now he got it according to the US site “TMZ”, waved through by a court in Las Vegas.

Photos available to the site show Carter in the courtroom when the judge’s decision was announced. Accordingly, his side was able to present enough evidence to justify a counterclaim for defamation. According to the report, Schuman and her father Jerome Schuman had previously tried to have Carter’s counterclaim legally stopped.

Referring to this partial success in court, Carter’s attorney, Liane K. Wakayama, is quoted as saying: “For years, Melissa and Jerome Schuman conspired with anyone they could manipulate to fabricate false allegations against Nick Carter.” It is a “brazen attempt to get rich off him. Today’s verdict confirms that Nick will be able to follow this truth to its inevitable end and uncover the deception and regrettable behavior of the Schumans and their co-conspirators .”

Was rejected five years ago

The accusation of the singer, who was part of the former girl group Dream, weighs heavily: She accuses Carter of raping her in Santa Monica in 2002 in a friend’s apartment. In April of this year, she filed a lawsuit.

The lawsuit is new, but the allegation is not: Schuman made it around five years ago, but at that time the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office decided not to bring formal charges against Carter. The reason: The incident was statute-barred. Now, however, a change in the law has opened up the possibility for the singer to take legal action against Carter.

More women are taking action against Nick Carter

But not only Schuman makes such accusations. Also according to “TMZ” Two other women are currently seeking legal action against Carter. It was recently announced that the star is being sued for an alleged incident that happened in 2003. He was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl, first on a yacht and later on a bus.

According to Carter’s statute, these allegations, while not new, remain completely false. The woman, who remains anonymous, made these allegations 20 years ago. But even then, the authorities had not found sufficient evidence for an indictment.

Meanwhile, the third alleged victim is a woman named Shannon Ruth. She also accuses the star of sexual assault, which is said to have taken place in 2001 after a concert. She was also a minor at the time of the alleged attack. Allegedly, Carter could bring witnesses into the field who prove that these statements were false.
