After the globally successful augmented reality mobile game Pokemon GoNiantic is interested in a different kind of hunting.
Capcom has indeed announced that the studio is currently working on Monster Hunter Nowwhich is scheduled for release in September on Android and iOS.
The augmented reality hunt is on
Niantic has definitely positioned itself as a brand studio when it comes to developing successful augmented reality mobile games. In 2016, the world was literally caught up in Pokemon Go which allowed you to capture the famous creatures while moving with your smartphone.
In 2019, it was around the world to Harry Potter with Wizards Unite to join augmented reality. For lack of interested wizards, the title however closed its doors a year after its release. Today, after other games like Pikmin Bloomwe learn that Niantic is returning to critters hunting, this time with Monster Hunter Now.
Like the studio’s previous games, it will be a question of walking around in the real world armed with your smartphone in order to face the famous monsters of Capcom’s no less famous franchise. This will be possible both alone and with others.

This is obviously not the first attempt on mobile for the license monster hunter. A first title on iOS titled Dynamic Hunting was born in 2011, followed by Freedom Unite in 2014, then by Explore in 2015 (this time also on Android), and finally Riders in 2020.
By joining forces with Niantic, Capcom intends to reach an even wider audience and recruit new hunters, while Monster Hunter World, released on PC, Xbox One and PS4 in 2018, is the best-selling game from the Japanese firm to date. Most recent monster hunter rise has not been unworthy either, and we are expecting a more than likely next-generation opus targeting the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
Until then, interested parties can register for an opportunity to participate in the closed beta of Monster Hunter Now, which is set to launch on April 25, on the game’s official website cited in source below. The new form of Niantic-style augmented reality hunting will officially open in September.
The studio does not stop in such a good way, since this year must also release Peridotan augmented reality game centered around virtual pets, as well as marvel world of heroes.
