  • The repair work on the A13 through the Misox, which was damaged by a storm, is progressing rapidly.
  • As the deputy director of the Federal Roads Office (Astra) explained on site on Wednesday, the motorway should be open to one-lane traffic again from July 10.
  • However, the A13 will not be open to two lanes again until the end of the year.

The excavators are currently working at their limits in the Moesa river, explained Marco Fioroni, manager of the Astra branch in Bellinzona, during a tour of the construction site near Lostallo GR. After blasting some boulders, they had to be removed in the rushing water. At the same time, material was being filled in at the site of the torn-away road.

During a storm on Friday evening, the Moesa washed away the A13 national road near Lostallo and washed away a 200-meter stretch of road. The San Bernardino route has been closed since then. One person died in the storm and two others are still missing.
