after the controversy, a patch to save the situation

After a launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2 which caused a lot of ink to flow, Capcom is taking the lead to put the game on better rails. A patch is in preparation for this.

If this will not remove the microtransactions deployed at the same time as Dragon’s Dogma 2, this patch should in any case erase several grievances against it. This will indeed add highly requested features, both on PC and on PS5/Xbox Series. Follow our Pawn to find the scroll detailing the notes for this patch.

When it was released on March 22, Dragon’s Dogma 2 certainly did not have the reception expected by Capcom. The fault lies mainly with the concomitant addition of microtransactions which are very frowned upon by players. These notably allowed faster access to objects already present in the game, but above all to functionalities otherwise unavailable. We are thinking in particular of an option to launch a fresh new game (not to be confused with New Game+, which is very present in the base game). The community also had complaints about the game’s performance on PC and consoles. On the latter, the absence of graphics modes was not unanimous.

Today, Capcom therefore made a closely watched announcement: the next deployment of a patch. This intends to repair part of the damage reported by players since the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2. This will not, however, make the hated microtransactions disappear. However, we will note in this area the addition of a “New Game” option as well as the increase in the number of “Art of Metamorphosis” objects to 99. In-game, these were purchasable in very limited numbers for a fee. rift crystals and allowed you to change the appearance of your character.

Performance and visual improvements at the heart of the patch

The other big part of the upcoming patch in Dragon’s Dogma 2 focuses on the performance and visual quality of the game. On PS5 and Xbox Series, we will especially note an option allowing you to opt for either a framerate capped at 30 FPS or a variable framerate. Options to disable motion blur and ray tracing will also be added. The PC version will also get a little attention. With DLSS enabled (exclusive to NVIDIA RTX 2000 and newer graphics cards), gamers can expect better visual quality. Character models should also see improvements to no longer appear poor quality depending on the settings.
