Hansi Flick and the close connection to Lauterbach
In February, the then Bayern coach Hansi Flick and Karl Lauterbach clashed over the Corona issue. But they quickly establish a connection with each other. Today’s national coach and the SPD health expert have been in close contact since then, says Flick.
The public dispute has long been resolved, meanwhile national coach Hansi Flick is even getting advice from health expert Karl Lauterbach in the corona pandemic. “In the time when we briefly clashed, a connection has already been established,” said Flick in the ARD radio interview, “and if there is anything, I’ll ask about it”.
In February, as the coach of FC Bayern at the time, Flick called the SPD politician Lauterbach a “so-called expert” and accused politicians across the board of caring less about the problems of the pandemic than about voting. This was preceded by Lauterbach’s criticism of Bayern’s trip to the Club World Cup in Qatar. After a conciliatory conversation, the dispute was quickly resolved.
The exchange with Lauterbach has also meant that Flick sees vaccination as “the only way out of the pandemic”. “He confirmed to me that vaccination is something that you just have to do,” said the 56-year-old.
The SPD politician also spoke on Twitter today. “After the original dispute, a very good contact was established with Hansi Flick. He is someone who not only listens, but who really conscientiously takes care of the health of his team,” wrote the health expert: “A top attitude.”
