Evotec wants to return to the MDAX in June

According to its own statements, the biotech company Evotec is the victim of a cyber attack. Reports on the shops must be postponed. For this, the company flies out of important stock market indices. A quick return is now being considered – and a strong start to the financial year is reported.

After the delayed presentation of the annual report for the past year, the Hamburg-based biotech company Evotec expects to return to the MDAX small-cap index as early as June. Deutsche Börse recently dropped the shares from the MDAX and the TecDAX technology index after Evotec was unable to submit the audited annual report by the end of April as required – according to its own statements due to a cyber attack. Almost two weeks late, Evotec published the report just before midnight yesterday evening.

The stock market indices will be reviewed next on June 5, and Evotec shares could be included in the MDAX again on June 19. The company has a market value of almost 3.4 billion euros.

After the hacker attack, Evotec expects “a rapid return to full productivity and business recovery,” the statement said. However, it cannot be ruled out that the incident will have consequences for business forecasts for the current year. For 2023, Evotec currently expects sales of EUR 820 million to EUR 840 million and an adjusted operating result (Ebitda) of EUR 115 million to EUR 130 million.

At the same time, the company published a report on the first quarter, but without business figures. “Evotec had a strong start to the year,” it says. Several partnerships with large pharmaceutical companies have been extended or expanded. “The scope and scope of the transactions was significantly larger than in the comparable period of 2022.” According to Deutsche Börse’s rules and regulations, information on turnover or profit is no longer required in the notifications for the first and third quarters, but is customary. Evotec intends to present figures again in August when the half-year report is published.
