The Foo Fighters canceled their tour after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. A performance at the Grammys has now been canceled.

The Foo Fighters will not perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards. Following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins (1972-2022), the rock band has canceled their appearance at the awards ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas next Sunday. The band is nominated in three categories at this year’s music awards and could be nominated for best rock performance (“Making A Fire”), best rock song (“Waiting On A War”) and best rock album (“Medicine At Midnight”).

The band also had their remaining tour dates last Tuesday via social media canceled. “It is with great sadness that the Foo Fighters confirm the cancellation of all upcoming tour dates in light of the devastating loss of our brother Taylor Hawkins,” the statement read on Instagram. “Instead, let’s use this time to grieve, heal, hug our loved ones and cherish all the music and memories we’ve made together.”

Taylor Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room in the Colombian capital Bogotá on Friday evening (March 25). The musician was 50 years old. First details from the toxicological investigation, which had been published by the Colombian police and Attorney General’s Office, state that ten different “substances” were found in the dead musician’s body.

Grammy organizers have previously announced that tributes will be paid to Hawkins at this year’s awards and television show. “We’re going to honor his memory in a way,” said CBS spokesman Jack Sussman. “We want to figure out what’s the right thing to do that’s respectful of everyone involved.”
