ZeniMax Online Studios seems to want to produce other games after working for years on The Elder Scrolls Online. And it looks promising on paper.
However, this remains on paper, since we are only talking here about mentions on the LinkedIn profiles of studio employees. Given the good work done on The Elder Scrolls Online, however, there is reason to rejoice. We go through all of this in more detail.
In the small world of MMORPGs, The Elder Scrolls Online has, despite tough competition, managed to carve out a good place for itself. However, the task was not easy in the face of behemoths like Final Fantasy 14 or World of Warcraft. The process took time and required many extensions. For ZeniMax Online Studios, however, it seems to be time to diversify.
Via the LinkedIn pages of some studio employees, we learn that other AAA games are in the pipeline. More precisely, the Bethesda subsidiary would have two projects in mind, both based on a different engine. One of them would also be a completely new license. For the creative minds at ZeniMax Online Studios, a little novelty would certainly not be amiss.
An MMO and a multi-shooter in the viewfinder?
However, it seems that these two future games will retain a multiplayer component. The first would in fact be the one inaugurating a new license, in the form of an MMO. No offense to fans, ZeniMax should therefore not work on a massively multiplayer Fallout game. In addition to launching a new license, this title will also be powered by a new engine.
The second game is being developed by veterans of many well-known studios. We can cite Activision, Bungie, DICE, Raven Software or even PUBG. Given the names mentioned, everything suggests that this second game should be a multiplayer shooter. Let’s hope, however, that it is not a Battle Royale, as this style of game is no longer really in fashion. Of course, for the moment these are just words on a LinkedIn page. It will therefore probably be necessary to wait a long time before seeing a first result. The ideas are in any case there, all that remains is to develop them into two proper games.
