What next with the EU? Relations between Bern and Brussels have not got any easier after the failure of the framework agreement. The Foreign Policy Commission of the National Council (APK) therefore discussed the future of the bilateral path in depth on Friday.
The foreign politicians demand the drafting of a federal law with 16 votes to 5 with 3 abstentions. This is intended to define the benchmarks for clarifying the institutional questions. These are to be introduced by the Federal Council as part of a structured dialogue, writes the commission chaired by GLP National Councilor Tiana Angelina Moser (42) in a Message. The involvement of parliament and the cantons is also to be regulated in the “Lex EU”.
Did the Federal Council break the constitution?
The foreign politicians, who tend to be more pro-European than the other members of parliament, regret that the Federal Council broke off negotiations on the framework agreement. They call on Parliament’s Business Review Commission (GPK) to review the decision to abort whether it is constitutional.
The decision, however, was extremely tight: with a stand of 12 to 12 votes, Commission President Moser cast the casting vote. (til / SDA)
