While all eyes are on its future console, Big N could offer a fourth iteration of its Nintendo Switch.

Since March 3, 2017, the Japanese company has been rolling in gold thanks to the Nintendo Switch. A true phenomenon, the hybrid (or portable) console, in addition to enjoying a large games library, has now exceeded the milestone of 130 million units sold worldwide.

Available in a Lite version since September 2019, and in an OLED variant for two years, Nintendo’s latest may not have yet said its last word.

A fourth model of Nintendo Switch before the new console?

A few days ago, new rumors suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 could integrate an OLED screen and arrive sooner than we think. If previous rumors suggested a potential launch for fall 2024, recent elements now seem to indicate that the next Big N console could be marketed in the same period as its big sister, more precisely around the first quarter of the year. year 2024.

But, now, a new series of leaks suggests that the Japanese firm is working on a new variant of its Nintendo Switch, as reported to us by the site Sam Mobile. It would be, like the Lite version deployed a few years earlier, a model solely dedicated to portable gaming.

A Nintendo Switch Mini/Pocket could arrive at the start of 2024

Building on its success, there is almost no doubt that the Nintendo Switch will continue to coexist with the one that succeeds it for a few more years. For information, the future opus of the series Professor Layton is also expected for the year 2025. In order to avoid too great a loss in sales of its console, the manufacturer could therefore market a Switch Mini or Pocket, according to the recent findings of Nash Weedle on X.com.

In one of the patents discovered by the leaker, we learn that the R,L, ZR, ZL, Home and Capture buttons have been repositioned in order to make the device more compact. The R/ZR and L/ZL triggers would then be placed side by side and no longer one behind the other.

In addition, this Nintendo Switch Mini/Pocket would integrate magnets in order to be able to attach a protective case, supporting the idea that it could fully be intended for a nomadic audience.

The information shared by the leaker is particularly (too?) precise. The Nintendo Switch Mini would have a maximum battery life of 12 hours and would be scheduled for February 16, 2024 at a price of 149 euros. As you will have understood, these rumors should obviously be taken with a grain of salt.
