After the Netflix hit, this cult film from your childhood is a nice surprise

This cult film from your childhood, which enjoyed a second youth as a series on Netflix, made a big announcement in addition to setting a date during a major event.

Despite series cancellations, Netflix has a large number of successes to its credit such as Emily in Paris, which was renewed for a season 5. And there are many more hits of this type like the very popular series The Bridgerton Chronicle, Squid Game and Wednesday. In 2020, the firm with the red N also acquired the rights to a television show which began on… YouTube! This is not common, but the video streaming platform knew how to smell the right thing by offering itself Cobra Kai.

Is that cult film from your childhood back, thanks Netflix?

Cobra Kai is a Netflix series set more than 30 years after the cult films of your childhood Karate Kid. Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) and William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) also appear in the casting of this big hit. A success which will nevertheless end in 2025 with the broadcast of the final episodes of season 6. A decision which was not taken by the SVOD service, but which emanates from the production team. “Netflix didn’t tell us it was the final season. We told them it was the last season. We always wanted to end Cobra Kai on our own terms, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to do so.” said co-creator Jon Hurwitz on X.

But Karate Kid will not be abandoned, on the contrary. Following the excitement around the Netflix series Cobra Kai, a new feature film will be released with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan (Mr. Han). Ahead of its presentation at New York Comic Con 2024, the film made a big announcement by revealing its official title. It must therefore now be referred to under the name Karate Kid Legends. To find out more and perhaps have a first extract, an appointment is set for October 19 at 4:00 a.m. (French time). We will follow a teenager, Li, who moves with his mother to Brooklyn and who is introduced to martial arts thanks to an experienced mentor who should therefore be Jackie Chan.
