Despite Emmanuel Macron’s speech on Monday evening, the tension does not weaken in the French streets. After the speech, several spontaneous processions were created in several cities in France, with sometimes clashes between the police and certain demonstrators.

Despite everything, Emmanuel Macron intends to reconnect with the field. After three months playing the discretion between the walls of the Elysée or on a state visit abroad, the president, who wants to turn the page on pensions, will return to meet the French in the days to come.

mark the break

According to information from Europe 1, the Head of State Emmanuel Macron will travel to Hérault on Thursday, to make a trip on the themes of rurality and education, confirms sources close to the executive. Other trips to France in the coming days are under consideration, but the precise program has not yet been determined.

“The Head of State wants to mark a break, take action two of his second five-year term to climb the slope”, explains a relative. The president intends to reconnect with the territories as he spends part of May visiting abroad. “It draws all its legitimacy from the French and it is with them that you have to go to recreate confidence”, explains one of its faithful.

Turn the page on pensions

“It’s about confronting the reality of everyday life”, sums up another early walker, well aware of the opposition that Emmanuel Macron should encounter during his visits. And to add: “He does not want to hide. His DNA is to go into contact”.

Stated objective: to close the endless sequence of retreats, which the president cannot do alone. It remains to be seen whether the French are also ready to turn the page on these last three months of disputes.
