Tom Brady’s retirement from professional sports symbolizes the end of an era. But Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, is the new star in the football sky.

On February 1, 2023, Tom Brady, 45, announced again that he was retiring from professional football – this time “for good”. After retiring last year, he made his comeback shortly thereafter and played another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, however, his decision appears to be final.

The National Football League (NFL) has long provided for supplies of young players. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 27, will compete with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, at this year’s Super Bowl on February 13. It is the third time that the young athlete is in the finals of the US professional football league. No wonder, after all, Patrick Mahomes has developed into the new superstar of the league in no time at all.

Patrick Mahomes was born with the sporting talent

Patrick Mahomes was born on September 17, 1995 in the state of Texas to Randi and Pat Mahomes, 52. His father was a professional baseball player at the time. Patrick’s sporting talent quickly became apparent during his school days, playing basketball, football and, like Papa Pat, baseball. But his greatest achievements came as quarterback on his high school team. His high school coach Adam Cook once told Yahoo Sports that playing a variety of sports helped make him a top football player.

Achievements and honors in his young career

In college, Patrick Mahomes then played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2014 to 2016 and shone for 12,097 yards and 115 touchdowns. A year later, he announced that he would be entering the NFL draft, in which professional league clubs acquire rights to available amateur and youth players. As a result, he first became the backup quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs before becoming the team’s starting quarterback in 2018. A position that he has successfully filled to this day.

It is not without reason that his right arm is compared to a rocket in the media. His fastest pass was rated at 62 miles per hour (approx. 99.7 km/h). His speed and ability to pull off sensational plays seemingly out of thin air has established him as a legendary player in his first five years in the NFL. In 2020, Patrick Mahomes finally celebrated an incredible triumph: At the Super Bowl, he and his team won against the San Francisco 49ers – ending a 50-year dry spell for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was also voted Most Valuable Player (MVP), the most valuable player of the season.

The following year, however, Mahomes lost to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaners. Now the 27-year-old is in the finals again and will do everything to sweep the Philadelphia Eagles off the field. As always, he will receive emotional support from his wife Brittany, 27.

Patrick Mahomes has already found his great love

Patrick and Brittany met and fell in love when they were teenagers – they’re real high school sweethearts! What unites them, among other things, is their love of sports: While Patrick blossomed into a gifted quarterback at Texas Tech, Brittany played football at the University of Texas in Tyler. She also managed to jump into the professional league, she was under contract with the Icelandic club Afturelding/Fram for a year and became champion in 2017. However, after her lover signed on with the Chiefs, she returned to the United States. The 27-year-old now runs her own business called Brittany Lynne Fitness and co-owns the Kansas City Current football club.

Although Patrick and Brittany Mahomes were physically separated during college, their love has only grown stronger. They have now been in a relationship for over ten years. On March 13, 2022, the two celebrated their dream wedding in Hawaii. At the end of February 2021, their first child was born: their daughter Sterling, 1. In November, their son Patrick III, known as Bronze, crowned their happiness.

Brittany Mahomes has already taken Sterling to Arizona for the Super Bowl. The mother-daughter duo will follow the finale spellbound from the stands. It is not known whether the little bronze will also be in the stadium. One thing is certain: Brittany will cheer on Patrick Mahomes with body and soul – because she is his biggest cheerleader.
