The heavy metal band Metallica wants to reduce its ecological footprint. The tour is therefore carried out with electric and hydrogen trucks from Iveco.

Electric guitars and electric trucks apparently go well together: This summer, the US band Metallica will go on a major European tour as part of the M72 World Tour with an electric truck and a hydrogen truck from Iveco.
The truck fleet that transports the band’s equipment and parts of the stage show from gig to gig across Europe will consist of purely electrically powered trucks and tractors from the S-eWay series powered by fuel cells and hydrogen, reports Semafor.
Electric trucks have recently come into greater focus because well-known brands have introduced corresponding models. Tesla uses the Semi on public roads; Mercedes-Benz was recently able to sell 1,000 eActros 600s in one fell swoop. Trucks with fuel cell technology, on the other hand, are currently still exotic exceptions and can hardly be found on international roads. The fact that Iveco was able to win the well-known band as a testimonial for the technology can therefore be understood as a small marketing stunt.
Through the partnership with Iveco, Metallica also wants to reduce the tour’s carbon footprint. The M72 World Tour will take place from May to July.
