There is an addition to the family at rapper Kontra K. “I’m going to have a daughter in May,” the German musician said in an interview.
Kontra K (33) is going to be a father for the third time! The successful German rapper already has two sons and now there is a new addition to the family: “I will have another daughter in May,” reveals the 33-year-old in an interview with the news agency spot on news. Maximilian Diehn, as Kontra K’s real name is called, keeps his family as far as possible from the public. “I want to protect my children”, explains the Berliner, whose new album “Back from the light to the shadows” will be released on May 21st. Kontra K also reveals in an interview why he does not post photos of his children on Instagram and what is important to him in raising children.
In a song on your new album “Back from the light to the shadows” you speak to your son. Do your children know what you do for a living?
Against K: The younger one is still a bit small. He likes my music and my videos – he likes to dance to it. The older one already knows. He tries to understand everything and doesn’t understand, for example, why the police in my songs are sometimes mean and sometimes friendly. But there are more things that a child can notice. That’s why I speak to my son in the song and tell him: Don’t believe everything people say.
What is important to you in education?
Cons: Honesty. They should be nice to their fellow human beings and not be blinded by false lights. I would like to pass this on to my children. They should become good, warm people who are ready to stand up for a cause. That is the most important thing and I try to lead by example. My three children should be able to inform themselves, think and empathize with other people before they judge.
Why three children? You have two sons, don’t you?
Contra K: One is on the way. I will have another daughter in May.

Contra K: Tell me! I’m already standing in front of the house with the shotgun. I know the boys. Therefore to all future people: Dress warmly. I’m a really gross father-in-law. They won’t have it easy with me.
So far, you have kept your children out of the public eye, while other stars often have pictures of their offspring on Instagram. Why?
Contra K: My children should decide for themselves later if they want that. Whether their faces should be seen everywhere, whether they want to be judged by strangers. I don’t want to throw them to the wolves just for a few likes. Because likes are nothing and family is everything. My children are still clean and have a good life ahead of them. Why should I have dirt pelted at them? Even if 99 percent of the comments are positive – that one percent breaks such a beautiful little creature. But everyone should do it the way they want. Maybe that’s how some express their love. But I want to protect my children.
How do you like the role as a father?
Kontra K: I like the role very much. But I also like the role of brother or friend. I am generally a very loving person. Nothing is more loyal and intense than family and real friendship. I don’t have a lot – just my family and a few friends. But that’s enough for me, I don’t want more than that. The music is the most important thing for my psyche. The family is the most important thing in my life, it gives me support.
How do you manage to reconcile family and work?
Cons: My best friends work in the office and in sales, and I also founded a company with them. I’ve fired managers, got my people on board and now represent other artists as well. I am happy when I can take care of 100 mouths that are important to me. Instead of 200 mouths from big labels that are already full. I prefer to give perspective to the people who would otherwise be on the street. I like coming to work every day because my friends are there.
