According to experts, Iran is learning from Russia

Iran is attacking Israel with a combination of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones – similar to how Russia attacks Ukraine. According to the Institute for War Studies (ISW), Iran is working on the optimal strategy against the West’s air defenses.

According to the US think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Iran has learned from Russia to develop increasingly dangerous and effective attack combinations against Israel. With the current military strikes, Iran can also test how the USA’s air and sea defense can be better circumvented, the experts write in their current report Iran analysis.

Russia has experimented with a combination of ballistic and cruise missiles as well as Iranian drones in its war of aggression against Ukraine. The analysts explain that an attempt was made to develop the optimal interaction in order to penetrate Western air and missile defenses. Iran’s major attack on Israel is similar to this Russian combination. In addition, according to ISW, Iran used the Houthi militia’s attacks in the Red Sea to test the US Navy’s air defenses and thus refine its own drone tactics.

The US Army shot down drones and missiles after Iran’s major attack on Israel began. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said US forces intercepted dozens of missiles and drones fired from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. US President Joe Biden pledged his “unwavering” support to Israel.

Shortly before Iran’s major attack, the USA had positioned two warships to protect Israel and American forces in the Middle East. One was already in the region and another was diverted there, U.S. officials said. At least one of the ships is equipped with the Aegis missile defense system.

Iran warned of counterattacks after launching its attack on Israel. The Iranian mission to the United Nations wrote on Platform
