Will Poulter as Bobby Jones

Born in 1993, Will Poulter can boast of already having a great career behind him! Revealed thanks to his roles in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Odyssey of the Dawn Treader and The Millers, a budding family, he gives the reply to Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant by Alejandro González Iñárritu, in 2015. Present in the casting from the Labyrinth film series, he starred in Midsommar and the special episode of Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

Before joining the Marvel team for the 3rd installment of Guardians of the Galaxy in 2023, we discover him in the guise of Bobby Jones. While keeping Dr. Thomas company during a round of golf, he discovers a lifeless man who whispers to him, “Why didn’t they ask Evans?” in a last breath. From then on, Bobby will go in search of unraveling the mystery of this sentence pronounced by the deceased…

Lucy Boynton is Frankie Derwent

Accustomed to the camera from a very young age and her first outbursts in Miss Potter, by Chris Noonan, in 2006 when she was only 12 years old, Lucy Boynton is especially famous for having given voice in the musical Sing Street, camping Raphina.

Surrounded by a starry cast in Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express, she made an impression opposite Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody (a film which allowed the two actors to form a couple in the city). If she has also participated in series like Borgia, Gypsy, The Politician or Modern Love, this year she is Frankie Derwent in Why not Evans?.

After years in London, Frankie returns to the small town of Marchbolt and finds there Bobby, his childhood friend. She will therefore help him to carry out the investigation.

Hugh Laurie is Dr. James Nicholson

If the finest observers had already noticed in The 101 Dalmatians or in the 4th season of Friends, it is especially for his passage in the corridors of the Princeton Plainsboro hospital that Hugh Laurie became famous. Cane in hand, box of vicodin in his pocket: Dr. House is one of the most cult doctors on the small screen thanks to the broadcast of the series between 2004 and 2012.

After the end of the latter, the English actor continued to shoot for the big as for the small screen, in particular in the series Avenue 5. The year 2022 marks his return to directing with Pourquoi pas Evans?. Also a screenwriter, he adapts here an unknown work by Agatha Christie which should win over all fans of the genre.

The icing on the cake: he also deploys his acting talent in the mini-series by playing the enigmatic doctor James Nicholson, owner of The Grange, an imposing psychiatric clinic on which the suspicions of Frankie and Bobby could well be worn.

Brilliant too in a role as expressive as it is sparkling in Why not Evans?, Jim Broadbent is not at his first try alongside Emma Thompson. He was indeed able to meet the actress on the set of Bridget Jones since he plays Bridget’s father, and also knew the walls of Hogwarts well under the name of Horace Slughorn.

Oscar for best actor in a supporting role in 2001 for his interpretation of the writer John Bayley in Iris, he participated in many classics, from Brazil to Moulin Rouge, from Around the World in Eighty Days to La Dame de iron, from Paddington to The Duke.
