Agathe Lecaron (Masterchef): is she really a fan of cooking?

Back to school busy for the mischievous host of the Kindergartens who took the reins of MasterChef on France 2, broadcast Tuesday, September 13.

The audiences for the first issue of MasterChef were disappointing (1.8 million viewers and 10.7% PDA). A reaction ?

Agatha Lecaron: They are not disappointing, on the contrary! Achieving this score in this competitive context (against Mask Singer on TF1, editor’s note), while we are not yet in the heart of the events, it is rather not bad. I am very confident. The audience for the show is much younger than the average for the box, and the women have followed us.

When you were asked to host this contest, did you accept right away?

Sure. I love cooking and it was a great challenge to revive MasterChef putting it on public service. There, we are in the sharing, the transmission, the emotion. The tone has changed.

In 2011, when you co-presented Top chef, you were reduced to the role of serving hatch!

Indeed, it is not this show that has highlighted me. (Laughs.) But it was a great experience. I was working with people I loved but was useless. The proof, Stephane Rotenberg been doing perfectly fine on its own for years.

What paw do you bring to MasterChef?

I bring good humor. I am a huge foodie. It’s amazing to ask questions, pick up tips and pass them on. We will learn, for example, how to make an aioli that is digested, just blanch the garlic for a minute…

You also present The Kindergarten House, Bel & bien, Crossroads which will arrive on France 3…

There is a beautiful alignment of planets, it is true. On France 3, I’m going to discover people. We are going to go to a symbolic place for them and retrace their life path. It’s a very deep show. We shot one with Nolwenn (Leroy, editor’s note) in Brittany. Four issues are planned for the year.
