Aggressive Leukemia – Baby Elias urgently needs a stem cell donation

Mama Melina and Papa Severin drove to the hospital with their sunshine Elias (seven months) with stomach ache. The doctors couldn’t find anything and sent her back home. A month later, the pain became acute again and the pediatrician referred Elias to the hospital in Wels on June 9th. “It ripped the rug out from under our feet there,” recalls the 26-year-old mother.

The diagnosis: acute myeloid leukemia. “We never expected that. Every child has a stomach ache at some point,” says Melina. From Wels, the ambulance took us directly to the oncology department in Linz. “Since then, the hospital has become our new home. He’s now behind the first chemoblock,” says Melina, who is in the hospital around the clock: “My husband relieves me one or two nights a week so that I can switch off a bit.” Check out this post on Instagram A post shared by Melina (@confident.housewife) Elias starts his second chemoblock on Thursday. But he definitely needs a stem cell donor. “We need a donor in three to four months. The more people who register, the better.” Information about donating stem cells can be found at: gabenfuerleben.at or participate.roteskreuz.at/stammzellen
