Aggressive local guest – rioters threw a baton at the police officers

A drunken night owl in Wels triggered a large-scale police operation in the early hours of the morning. After he is said to have injured guests in a restaurant, he also attacked the police. All available strips were in use.

Wels police officers were ordered to a bar in the city area at around 2 a.m. on Saturday because there had been a physical injury. While the facts were being clarified, an unknown person suddenly jumped out of a taxi, approached the police officers in an aggressive manner and threw a telescopic baton in their direction. The window broke. The police officers then tried to arrest the angry and thrashing man. Due to the heated mood of those present, the police officers called for reinforcements. All available patrols in the Wels area drove to the bar and the rioters were arrested. His identity was then clarified. It was a 29-year-old from Wels. Weapons ban imposedAccording to statements by witnesses, physical injury or at least an argument between the suspect and guests of the restaurant should have occurred before the incident. An interrogation was initially not possible because the 29-year-old was heavily under the influence of alcohol. After he had calmed down again at the Dragonerstraße police station, his arrest was lifted. A provisional ban on weapons has been imposed on the man, and several charges are also awaiting him.
