agreement at RTE, no way out of the crisis at GRDF

At the end of a year of tensions, between fears of shortage and social movements for wage increases in the face of inflation, the mandatory annual negotiations (NAO) are coming to an end in the energy companies. Last to negotiate, RTE (manager of the electricity transmission network) found a compromise on Friday, December 16, with the four trade unions (CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT, FO).

After the signing in mid-October by the social partners of the electricity and gas industries branch (IEG) of an agreement increasing the value by 3.3%, in two stages (1% retroactive to 1er July, 2.3% on 1er January 2023) the basic national salary, the basis for calculating the salary scale, each company had to negotiate additional measures internally.

“A Dramatic Year”

At EDF, Enedis, RTE, GRDF, several weeks of strikes preceded the agreements. That signed at EDF in mid-October provides, in addition to the branch agreement, a revaluation for all of 2.3% In addition to individual increases and a bonus of 2,600 euros gross.

At Enedis (manager of the electricity distribution network), the agreement, unanimous, mid-November, provides 4.6% for all, individual measures and a bonus. At Engie, on December 9, three organizations validated 2.3% for all, and 2% for individual measures.

At RTE, it will also be 2.3% for everyone on 1er January, plus a monthly bonus of 2.7% of salary which will be replaced by an increase of 2.3% on 1er January 2025. In a press release, RTE’s human resources department welcomed “of this success which follows a nourished and constructive social dialogue”.

The validation of the agreement, however, comes the day after the dismissal of four RTE agents for a computer intervention on the network this summer as part of a social movement.

This act earned them nearly ninety-six hours of police custody at the DGSI (general directorate of internal security) and a summons to the criminal court in February. A level of punishment never seen, denounced by the secretary general of the CGT, Philippe Martinez, in an open letter to the Prime Minister, on December 7.
