  • The glass packaging company Vetropack has agreed on a social plan with the unions and employee representatives.
  • This applies to all employees affected by the job cuts.
  • The social plan includes, among other things, severance payments and bonuses.
  • Both sides reached an agreement after difficult negotiations.

The workforce temporarily went on strike in May and demanded “real negotiations”. According to the information, the social plan includes all the elements already announced in mid-May, such as severance payments, bonuses and benefits for early retirement.

A special job center is intended to help those who have been laid off to find a new job. The closure of the Vetropack site in St-Prex in the canton of Vaud will involve the elimination of around 180 jobs. Half of the employment contracts are to be terminated by the end of August. The remaining jobs will disappear gradually by 2026.
